Automatic transmission is now boom in the Indian market one of these is Volkswagen DSG. The Volkswagen Vento is one of the premier Automatic Transmission becoming popular in India.

The DSG is same as AMT( Automatic Manual Transmission) but only the difference AMT is with manual single clutch Pressure Plate assembled transmission but the DSG works with Dual Clutch Manual Transmission.

In DCT the odd gears works with One clutch and even gears with another clutch which gives the less power breakdown during the changing of gears and efficient driving.Now here comes the tricky part the DCT works automatically with DSG ( Direct Shift Gearbox)
which means like AMT all work is done automatically with Mechtronics system.

So no fear of changing gears in traffic jams just Pull gear lever to D mode and have fine journey or get acceleration boost on highway make it S mode.

So DSG gives overall efficient driving.

New launches in market Maruti IGNIS AMT and Maruti Wagon R LXI AMT new variants with automatic transmission , some are getting confused with automatic transmission variants.I am going to clear all these doubts. Lets clear first what is AMT.

AMT (Automatic Manual Transmission) is same as the Manual Transmission Gearbox or you can say traditional gearbox the only difference is the clutch and gear shifting is done with the automatic clutch actuator and auto gear shift with electro mechanical gear actuator. All these is done with smart control unit mounted on them. The gearbox is same but the work is automatic and saving fuel and increasing efficiency we have less power losses. The cost of manufacturing is also less as we have no different equipment's same localized parts for Manual and AMT giving manufacturer more cost reduction for different variants.
